چکیده

0. Abstract In this paper we propose a simple enhancing protocol for pulsed infrared thermography. The method is based on stimulating the specimen with two heating pulses separated by a short time interval delta. This approach was tested on several specimens of low and high thermal diffusivity and showed to provide higher thermal contrasts when an optimum interval delta is chosen. The observed thermal contrast improvement is about a few percentage values. Lastly, a Matlab™ procedure is also proposed to link this interval to the thermal diffusivity of the specimen. In the paper, the method is presented including theoretical basis, simulation and experimental results.

The Role of Infrared Thermography in Nondestructive testing of Civil Engineering Structures

In Civil Engineering, the application of infrared thermography is not limited to passive investigations of the quality of thermal insulation of building envelopes. Basic principles of the two main techniques of active infrared thermography, which are pulse thermography (PT) and Lock-in thermography (LT), are briefly recalled. In this paper, the use of passive infrared thermography technique for...

Applications of Pulse Phase Thermography

Recently, a novel approach was proposed which combines advantages of both pulse (PT) and modulated (MT) infrared thermography. In a nondestructive evaluation (NDE) perspective, the specimen is pulse-heated as in PT and the rnix offrequencies ofthe thermal waves launched into the specimen are unscrambled by perforrning the Fourier transform of the temperature time evolution over the field of vie...

Nondestructive Evaluation of Plexiglas Materials Using Lock-in and Pulse Phase Infrared Thermography

− Lock-in and pulse phase infrared thermography measurement techniques have been exploited for quantitative assessment of subsurface defects in a reference specimen made of Plexiglas. Radiometric thermal images were post-processed using a contrast approach in the frequency domain, allowing defect depth location to be resolved with a relative combined standard uncertainty of about 7% for thickne...

Active Infrared Thermography in Non-destructive Testing

The contribution deals with state of the art non-destructive testing method – active infrared thermography. The method can be used for revealing of defects and inhomogenities inside the bodies, e.g. bubbles and cracks in materials, which can have crucial importance from the point of view of their physical-mechanical properties. Goal of the research is theoretical evaluation of the performance o...
